Develop
Develop is a key word at PLEXUS. So often we are hired by companies or organizations that know what they want but don’t know how to get there. We take ideas and make them a reality. Whether we are developing a schedule for one of our client’s projects, developing software that helps a client streamline a process, or developing a web portal that brings information seekers and disseminators together – we spend a good portion of our day developing. We develop:
  • Project Plans
  • Processes
  • Strategies
  • Schedules
  • Solutions
  • Software
  • Systems
Some of our favorite moments are developing a detailed manpower scheduling system for the Cranston Police Department and a comprehensive project plan to support the $325 million project to build Gillette Stadium for the Patriots.
Cranston Police Department
We were hired to develop a custom online scheduling program that assigned officers to detail work that had been requested daily by other agencies and commercial clientele. It was critical that the system be user-friendly, identify the work and take into account several factors, including union rules, before assigning an officer a detail; factors such as seniority of the officer, work schedule for that time period, and previous jobs assigned in the recent past. The system handles the assignment of personnel, the status of all assignments, past present, and future, and provides an interface allowing the seamless data management for payroll and invoicing.
Gillette Stadium
This project was well under way when PLEXUS was brought in. We were hired as the $325 million project was in full swing when all of a sudden they had an “Oh #$&*^%” moment and realized no one was looking at the project from a macro level and bringing it all together – from setting the steel for the stadium to traing the staff and new vendors. We developed a project plan supported by a comprehensive schedule for ALL involved to follow and were able to help bring the project in on-time and on-budget.
STEM
Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation noticed a decline in young people’s interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. In an effort to inspire students to pursue these fields, RIEDC wanted to develop a collaborative and dynamic online STEM environment. PLEXUS developed a secure web-based portal using Microsoft Office Sharepoint that communicates key messages about the importance of STEM education and careers and allows the administration to update it using a content management system. RISTEM can add interactive discussion boards for teachers, internship postings from local businesses, and an area where parents and students can learn more about the RISTEM system.
